Vendor Application

"Greetings from the Food Works Winter Farmers Market (WFM)! We appreciate your interest in our winter marketplace. All vendors wishing to sell at the WFM must apply and be approved to participate as a vendor. The WFM is a producer-only market. In short, vendors must grow it, make it, or bake (cook) it to sell at the market.

Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee you a space at the market. All vendor applications are reviewed and carefully considered. After review of the 1st round of applications, applicants will be notified by phone or email as to the status of their application on or before October 1st. All accepted vendors are required to provide a short bio about their farm and pictures (digital submission preferred) or a short video showcasing unique elements of their farm. Please note the required supplemental documents for each vendor type and review the provided checklist at the end of the application. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Markets are Saturdays from 9am-12pm, December through March. THE MARKET LOCATION HAS CHANGED THIS YEAR! The market is located inside Carbondale Community High School Cafeteria (1301 E Walnut St, Carbondale, IL 62901). Set up for the market begins at 7:45am and take down must be completed by 1pm. No sales are allowed prior to the official start of the market. Vendors are not allowed to leave the market early, unless previously approved by the market manager. Please read over our rules and regulations.

A few things to note: It is the law that vendors report and submit sales tax for products sold at the market. WFM does not collect sales tax. Raw foods are taxed at 1%, and processed foods and non-food goods are currently taxed at 6.25% and taxes are payable to the Illinois Department of Revenue. Additionally, all vendors must provide proof of liability insurance prior to vending at the market. The market’s use of facilities contract with University Mall requires our market and its vendors to provide liability insurance. Please contact us with questions or concerns about sales tax or insurance requirements.

Thanks again for your interest in the Food Works Winter Farmers Market, and we look forward to receiving your application. Applications received by September 1, 2025 will be included in the first round of vendor selection and notified of acceptance by October 1, 2025. Applications will continue to be accepted after this date, and will be reviewed in the order in which they were received. If you have additional questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us."
