Food Works Southern Illinois Link Hub Manager Position Description
About Food Works: Food Works is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization dedicated to creating a sustainable food economy in Southern Illinois. Through farmer training and consumer education, Food Works promotes long-term farming networks that create healthy soils, healthy food, and healthy communities in the 23 counties that make up Southern Illinois. Food Works maintains 5 main programs: Food Works Mobile Farmers Market, Carbondale Community Farmers Market, Southern Illinois Link Hub, Southern Illinois Farming Alliance, and Southern Illinois Farm Beginnings.
The Southern Illinois Link Hub Manager reports to the Director of Operations and Food Access Programming to ensure the smooth operation of the Southern Illinois Link Hub. The Southern Illinois Link Hub Manager plays a key role in developing and maintaining relationships with Farmers Markets across our area, and will be responsible for day-to-day operations, as well as participate in long term program planning.
This is a part-time position, Compensation is a range from $ 19-21/hour based on experience.
Position Responsibilities
- Directly manage the Southern Illinois Link Hub SNAP & Link Match program in Southern Illinois Farmers Markets
- Identify and develop future market development opportunities in conjunction with Executive Director & Director of Operations and Food Access Programming
- Create and manage budgets related to Link Hub funding, in collaboration with Executive Director, Director of Operations and Food Access Programming & Operations Coordinator
- Managing required reporting to Experimental Station: weekly market reporting, Quarterly and End of Year reporting
- Planning/organizing/executing annual Southern IL Farmers Market Manager Meeting
- Administering required Hub surveys (Summer)
- Visiting all hub markets at least once/year
- Providing training/resources/information as needed to hub markets
- Assist with Advertising for Link Hub and related markets
- Collaborate and assist with Mobile Farmers Market and Winter Farmers Market, as needed
- Attend bi-monthly in-person meetings
- Provide program content for Social Media and Field notes
Represent Food Works within the local community and professional circles
- Represent Food Works in other statewide organizations and partnerships:
- Save Our SNAP Coalition - attend these meetings but not lobby
- Conduct outreach and networking activities in collaboration with the Executive Director & Director of Operations and Food Access Programming
Assist with Grantwriting
- Lead (or assist with) grant writing related to Link Hub, i.e. Link Match grants with Experimental Station
